Description
First Editions Snowdance Japanese Tree Lilac | Syringa reticulata
PLANTING POINTS: Its best ornamental feature is its showy, fragrant, creamy white flowers which bloom in upright panicles to 12” long in late spring to early summer. (After other lilac species) The later bloom makes it a great addition to a row of flowering crabs ensuring a client has flowering trees well into the summer. Flowers at an early age and flowers very prolifically. Good resistance to powdery mildew, scale insects, and borers.
SITING THIS TREE: Prefers organically rich, moist, slightly acidic soils with good drainage. The dense canopy and multistem nature can work well as a screen or boarder for property lines. Take advantage of the later blooming time to pair with other flowering plants/trees to have color all spring and into summer.
