Description

Quercus × macdanielii ‘Clemons’ / Heritage® Oak

Planting Points: Hybrid vigor gives faster growth, improved disease resistance, and excellent urban toughness. Strong, sturdy branching; develops a broad, rounded crown with age. Resistant to powdery mildew, anthracnose, and many other foliar issues. More tolerant of compact soils, pollution, and dry conditions than English oak. Acorn production is moderate; fruits are smaller than Bur Oak. Prune only in late fall or winter to reduce risk of oak wilt. Long-lived and dependable as a large shade tree.

Siting This Tree: Excellent for large residential lawns, estates, and broad open areas. Very well suited for parks, campuses, and municipal landscapes. Strong performers in urban and suburban settings, including boulevards and commercial landscapes. Avoid small yards—tree needs room for mature spread. Works beautifully in native-inspired plantings, woodland edges, or mixed deciduous groves.
