Description

Quercus × bimundorum ‘Midwest’ / Prairie Stature™ Oak

Planting Points: A hardy and adaptable Midwest‑developed hybrid oak with strong urban performance. Upright‑oval to rounded canopy with excellent branching structure. Very disease resistant—tolerant of anthracnose and powdery mildew. Faster growth than many native oaks due to hybrid vigor. Moderate acorn production; smaller acorns than Bur Oak. Strong wood and sturdy branching give it good storm tolerance. Prune only during late fall or winter to avoid oak wilt.

Siting This Tree: Excellent for residential yards, parks, and campus landscapes. Great for urban/suburban sites where durability and disease resistance are required. Works well in boulevards, open lawns, and large beds. Performs reliably across a broad range of Midwest soil types, especially where English Oak alone would struggle. Avoid chronically wet or high‑alkaline soils.
