Description

Cercis canadensis ‘MN Strain’ / MN Strain Eastern Redbud

PLANTING POINTS: Redbud is a small tree reaching 20 to 25 feet high and wide. It is particularly noted for its stunning pea-like rose- purple flowers which bloom profusely on bare branches in early spring. The flowers provide an early-season nectar source for hummingbirds. The seeds and flower buds are eaten by songbirds.

SITING THIS TREE: A beautiful choice for a flowering tree in the landscape. It is best to choose a location that will get adequate sunlight and that is semi protected from the wind. The flower contrast against evergreens is a great way to accentuate their beauty early in the year. They do not tolerate wet sites where there is poor drainage.
