Description

Quercus × warei / Kindred Spirit® Oak

Planting Points: Very tight columnar habit—narrower than Crimson Spire®, ideal for the smallest spaces. Exceptionally disease resistant (powdery mildew, anthracnose) due to hybrid vigor. Tolerates urban conditions, including compaction, pollution, and road salt. Glossy green leaves resemble English oak but show improved durability. Strong branch structure and central leader require almost no pruning. Acorn production is light—cleaner than many oaks. Moderate growth rate but extremely long‑lived and storm‑resistant. Prune only in late fall or winter to avoid oak wilt risk. Excellent replacement for fastigiate European oaks that struggle with disease.

Siting This Tree: Perfect for narrow spaces, such as urban lots, side yards, tight boulevards, driveway flanking, and courtyard plantings. Beautiful for formal landscapes, alleés, and structured designs. Ideal for vertical accents in modern or small‑scale landscapes. Great for screening where width is limited but height is desired. Avoid sites that are extremely alkaline, chronically wet, or deeply shaded.
