Description

Quercus ellipsoidalis ‘Bailskies’ / Majestic Skies® Northern Pin Oak

Planting Points: A selection from Bailey Nurseries bred for improved foliage quality, richer fall color, and upright, symmetrical branching. Leaves are more lustrous and resistant to scorch in dry sites compared to typical Northern Pin Oak. Strong central leader and well‑spaced lateral branches create a balanced canopy with minimal pruning. Excellent drought tolerance once established; ideal for dry, sandy, or upland planting sites. Highly intolerant of alkaline soils—plant only in acidic conditions to avoid chlorosis. Acorns provide wildlife value and mature in two seasons (red oak group trait).

Siting This Tree: Excellent for dry upland landscapes, sandy soils, and sites where other oaks struggle. Ideal for large residential lots, parks, campuses, and naturalized areas. Perfect where exceptional fall color is desired. Not suitable for heavy clay, alkaline soils, or low‑lying wet areas.
