Description
Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Draves’ / Street Keeper® Honeylocust
Planting Points: A narrow, upright cultivar ideal for restricted urban spaces, narrower than most honey locust varieties. Seedless and thornless, making it very landscape‑friendly. Fine-textured, airy foliage provides filtered shade—great for turf underplantings. Highly tolerant of pollution, salt, wind, drought, and urban compacted soils. Fast to moderate growth rate with excellent form and minimal pruning needs. Strong central leader; maintains its narrow columnar shape without training. Resistant to major honey locust pests, including leafhopper, canker, and pod gall problems. Water deeply during establishment; afterward, extremely low‑maintenance.
Siting This Tree: Excellent for narrow parkways, boulevards, and tight urban corridors. Works beautifully in parking lots, streetscapes, and commercial landscapes. Great residential choice where a tall tree is needed but width is limited. Provides light, filtered shade—ideal for patios, lawns, and spaces where full shade is undesirable. Functions well as a vertical accent, in rows, or along driveways. Avoid planting in extremely wet or poorly drained soils.
